LessonsIndicator atlasFlow: who is aggressive

Aggressor order bubbles

Large market orders as circles on the chart: who hit with size, and where.

How we compute it

We join the fills of one aggressor order exactly (same taker and transaction hash). A bubble appears above a threshold tuned to the market (a high quantile of order values over the last hour); circle area by value, and a double ring marks a battle with one large maker.

How to read it

  • A series of large bubbles at a level while price stands still: someone on the other side is absorbing.
  • A large bubble on a breakout with rising OI: a new position, not a close.

Traps

  • One large order is not a trend yet; often it is a position being closed or a hedge.

Combine with

  • With the tape and DOM: what was resting in the book before the order came.
  • With whales: are large accounts moving.
