Aggressor delta
The difference between aggressive buying and aggressive selling in a candle.
How we compute it
The volume of trades where the buyer was the aggressor minus those where the seller was, from the Hyperliquid tape (in BTC).
How to read it
- Delta in line with the candle's direction is a move with aggression; opposite delta is a move without it (for example price rising because sellers stepped back).
- Large delta with no price movement is absorption by resting orders.
Traps
- Delta describes the candle, not the future.
- Every trade has a buyer and a seller; delta only tells you who was impatient.
Combine with
- With open interest: is the aggression opening or closing positions.
- With a level: delta when an edge is tested.
