DOM: book ladder
The current order book as a ladder: size at each price above and below price.
How we compute it
The latest book snapshot at the right edge of the chart (asks above price, bids below), on a square-root scale so that one wall does not flatten the rest.
How to read it
- Asymmetry of the nearest levels shows which side is thinner.
- A wall that stays as price approaches matters more than a wall far from price.
Traps
- The DOM changes several times a second; individual walls are often placed and pulled.
Combine with
- With the tape: are aggressors eating the wall, or is the wall refilling.
