Day profile: volume, aggression, time
Market Profile in one picture: how much traded at each price, who was aggressive and how long the market stayed there.
How we compute it
A row bar is the UTC day volume at that price. The colour is the aggressive side from the tape: green buying, violet selling, stronger with a bigger edge; grey means no edge or no tape (the numbers under the crosshair tell which). The thin outline is time (TPO): how many 30-minute periods touched the price, on the same area as the volume. Plus POC and value area from volume, the first-hour range of the day, single prints, tails and the day delta under the profile.
How to read it
- A bar longer than the outline: fast, heavy trading at that price. An outline longer than the bar: price sat there on low turnover.
- Single prints (one period) are price flying through quickly, and long tails at the edge of the day are rejection.
- Strong one-sided aggression at the edge of the profile followed by a return shows where that side was stopped.
Traps
- Colour exists only where the tape was (the last day): older days are grey and spread evenly within candles.
- Aggression is not the outcome: heavy buying at a price does not mean price will go up.
Combine with
- With VWAP: day value (POC) near VWAP means balance.
- With the IB: leaving the IB and building volume outside it is acceptance.
